Plugin lists rank by feature count. That is the wrong axis for print-on-demand, where the cost of a quiet failure is a refunded order. Three questions settle it faster.
Print-on-demand plugins are provider-specific. A Printful plugin does not talk to Printify, Gelato or anyone else — the APIs, product catalogues and variant models are different. Pick your provider first; the plugin follows.
If you have not committed to a provider yet, do that before choosing a plugin. Switching providers later means redoing the integration, not swapping a setting.
You do not need all three on day one. Sync plus manual ordering is a legitimate way to start, and it removes the two highest-risk pieces while you have almost no orders.
This separates plugins more than anything on a feature table:
Before installing, open the plugin's WordPress.org page and check three fields: last updated, tested up to, and the rating distribution rather than the average. A pile of one-star reviews all describing the same fault tells you more than the mean.
For reference, on 18 August 2026 Printful's own WooCommerce plugin showed 50,000 active installs, 2.6 out of 5 from 96 reviews, last updated 14 January 2026, tested to WordPress 6.9.7. Check the current figures yourself — that is the point of the exercise.
If you sell one design in several sizes or colours, you need variable products. Some plugins create a separate simple product per variant, or import only the first one. Both look fine on a demo store with one design and fall apart on a real catalogue.
What ours does not do. The free plugin copies simple products using the first variant, so it is not the answer if you sell one design in six sizes. It does not send orders to Printful and does not quote live shipping rates. It works with Printful only — not Printify or other providers.
These notes are written by sellerkit. We build a Printful sync plugin for WooCommerce (below), which is why we know these failure modes.
Everything above this box works whether or not you install anything. Where a workaround is enough, we say so.
